What is Botslab Cloud?
Botslab Cloud is a cloud-based video storage service offered by BOTSLAB INC. for certain smart video cameras that are compatible with the Botslab App. Botslab Cloud encompasses a range of security monitoring and cloud video storage features based on technologies such as moving object detection (MOD), face and human detection, and facial recognition.
What is Botslab Cloud used for?
Security monitoring and saving important video evidence: In addition to home security applications, Botslab Cloud has become an increasingly popular option for security monitoring in places such as stores, factories, workshops, training rooms, and offices.
Recording life’s precious moments in real-time: Whether it’s looking after parents, children, or even pets, Botslab Cloud lets you record and hold on to precious moments in life when you aren’t able to be with your loved ones or view video in real-time.
With Botslab Cloud, there’s no need to worry about losing your camera. You get unlimited storage, can play back saved video anytime, and can even download videos with a single tap.
Will my camera start recording when it detects movement of a person or object?
Yes.
Botslab Cloud features 24-hour real-time smart monitoring technology. When the slightest movement of a person, pet, or object is detected in your camera’s field of view, the camera will automatically start recording and uploading encrypted video to Botslab Cloud. Note: Video will not be recorded and saved to the cloud unless motion is detected.
How do the 7-day and 30-day Cloud Recording plans differ?
The number of days in each plan refers to how long video is stored in the cloud.
Example: If you purchased the 1-year VIP plan with 7-day continuous recording on January 1, 2019 and started recording video on January 1, then starting January 8, video recorded 7 days earlier (i.e., January 1) would be automatically deleted, and video recorded from January 2 to January 8 would still be available in the cloud. Each storage plan works the same way, giving you the freedom to choose whichever plan suits you best. If you want to hold on to an important video, you can also download it to your phone before it gets deleted from the cloud.
Are purchases of Botslab Cloud service plans refundable?
Botslab Cloud is a virtual product, and purchases are nonrefundable.
Botslab Cloud Purchase FAQ:
How do I buy a Botslab Cloud service plan?
If you haven’t purchased a Botslab Cloud service plan before, open up the Live View page in the Botslab App and tap “Botslab Cloud” at the bottom of the screen to view purchase options.
If you’re a current Botslab Cloud user or your Botslab Cloud service has expired, you can tap “Settings” > “Renew now” in the top right corner of the Botslab Cloud view page to purchase a plan.
When does Botslab Cloud become available after making a purchase? How are service start and end times calculated?
Service is immediately activated upon purchase of a storage plan, and your camera will immediately begin recording and uploading video to the cloud if any movement is detected.
The service start and end time of a storage plan will also be shown after it is purchased. Service periods are calculated as follows:
If you’re not currently a Botslab Cloud user or your previous Botslab Cloud service has expired, the service period will start at the time of purchase. For example, if you purchased the 1-Year Service Plan with 7-day cloud storage on June 5, 2018 at 11:31, your service would start on June 5 2018 at 11:31 and end on June 5, 2019 at 11:31.
Do I need to buy more than one Botslab Cloud storage plan if I use multiple cameras?
A storage plan is only valid for the camera it is purchased for, and a separate cloud storage plan will have to be purchased to access Botslab Cloud functionality for each additional camera.
If I already have Botslab Cloud service which hasn’t expired yet and I buy additional service, when will the new service start? How are service start and end times calculated?
Service becomes available immediately upon purchasing a plan, and new service becomes active as soon as existing service expires. Example:
If you have an existing plan which is set to expire on June 5, 2021 at 11:31 and you purchase a 1-Year Service Plan with 7-day cloud storage any time before June 5, 2021, the service start time of the new plan will begin on June 5, 2021 at 11:31 and end on June 5, 2022 at 11:31.
Can an existing storage plan and a newly-purchased plan have different numbers of days of video storage?
Yes.
Once your current service expires, video stored in the cloud will continue to be deleted on a rolling basis, and new video will be stored according to the number of days purchased in the new service plan.
Example:
If you’re using the 30-day continuous recording plan and then choose to buy the 7-day plan, once the 30-day plan expires, video recorded 30 days earlier will be deleted starting the day after the 30-day plan expires. The remaining video will likewise be deleted on a rolling basis, so that 30 days after the service expires, all video previously stored in the cloud under that plan will be deleted.
When the 7-day continuous recording plan becomes active, newly-recorded video will be stored in the cloud on a 7-day rolling basis.
Botslab Cloud Usage FAQ:
Can I still watch videos stored in Botslab Cloud after my service has expired?
Once your service expires, your camera will no longer upload video to the cloud if movement is detected. Video is continuously uploaded to the cloud and deleted on a rolling basis, which means old video is deleted to make room for new video. For example, if you purchase a 7-day continuous recording plan, the first day of video saved to the cloud will be deleted the day after the service expires, and all video previously stored in the cloud will be deleted by the seventh day after the service expires.
Can video stored on the cloud be downloaded and deleted?
Yes, video stored on the cloud can be downloaded and deleted. To delete or download a specific video, find it on the Botslab Cloud view page and tap “Delete” or “Download”. Currently, downloaded video is only viewable through the Botslab App.
If my camera is unlinked from my account and then linked to someone else’s account, will that user be able to see my videos?
Botslab Cloud is simultaneously linked to your Botslab Account ID and camera, so if your camera is unlinked and then linked to someone else’s account, their account won’t be able to access your cloud service.
In other words, if User A purchases cloud storage and then unlinks their device, and User B links the same device to their account, User B won’t be able to access User A’s videos stored in the cloud. If User B wishes to use the cloud service, they’ll have to purchase a separate plan.
What should I do if video I recorded wasn’t uploaded to Botslab Cloud?
The ability to upload video to the cloud is highly dependent on your network connection. With a good connection, video will be uploaded to the cloud at 1080p resolution (or 720p if that’s the highest resolution your device supports). If you don’t have a good connection, video resolution may be temporarily reduced. We will always do our best to ensure the integrity of video uploaded to the cloud. If video still can’t be uploaded normally at a reduced resolution, partial video loss or discontinuity may occur.
An upload speed of at least 4 Mbps is recommended. Also, to ensure available bandwidth, we recommend not connecting too many devices to the network at once.
Should I buy Botslab Cloud if I have an SD card?
Video recorded onto an SD card is stored locally, making it susceptible to loss due to card damage or removal. SD cards also have limited storage space.
With Botslab Cloud, unlimited video can be stored in the cloud, and uploaded video is fully protected from the risk of loss due to SD card failure. Botslab Cloud also provides video playback functionality just like an SD card.
